How to enable GZIP compression? Print

  • 0

You may want to enable GZIP compression in cPanel as this can help increase the speed of your website by reducing loading times and lowering bandwidth use. It works by serving your website content to the browser in a compressed form.

In order to enable GZIP compression on cPanel follow these simple steps:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Scroll down to the Software section and click on the Optimize Website plugin. You can also search for Optimize in the search bar and choose the same plugin option.
  3. From the 3 options available, select Compress All Content.
  4. Click the Update Settings button to save the new settings and you will get a confirmation message confirming this has been completed.

We have been asked why this is not set as standard on all cPanel accounts and the answer is simply, this setting is not required by everyone as many clients like to use alternative methods including plugins and modules at the website level rather than the cPanel level so we give you the choice of whether or not you wish this to be set.
