What is a subdomain? Print

  • 0

Subdomains are based on your primary domain and work as prefixes for your website. They are great ways to organise your website or to create sub-websites under your main website. For example, you could have a webstore and want to use a subdomain for your help section. If your domain is example.com, you could set your help section to help.example.com.

To set up a subdomain for your domain follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Click on Subdomains under the Domains section.
  3. Enter the name of the subdomain and select the primary domain name you wish the subdomain to become a part of.
  4. Click Create to create your new subdomain.

Please note: The primary domain must be pointed to the server in order to be able to create a subdomain.
