Semrush knows a lot about your market and website. It gives you access to the world’s largest database of 20 billion keywords, 310 million ads and 17 billion URLs crawled per day. But you get more than just numbers. Semrush analyzes the data for you and gives you instant recommendations on SEO, content marketing and advertising that can help you improve your online visibility in days. This something you would consider to give a try if you really serious with getting traffic to your site. we have used Semrush for many of my client’s website and the results have been really Good.

So How Exactly can you use semrush ?

Definitely,there are a lot more tools out there doing exactly what semrush does but We dont want to go into Comparisons yet, this is for those who have decided to use Semrush as their Tool, We shall be Talking about other tools in the coming Editions may be later on a comparison.

1 - We can use Semrush for Keyword Research.

One of the most part of SEO is keyword research because with the right Keywords on website and the content you write your journey to ranking top in search engine results is half way done be it short tail or long tail keyword, As you may know search volume and competition level is important in choosing keywords, Semrush offers all this information. Piece of advised choose keywords with high search volume but low or medium competion.

Organic traffic is going to be one of the major drivers of traffic to your website. This feature allows you to review the top-ranking organic keywords for your site and helps you determine how your organic SEO strategy is being executed.

Type your anything you wish you like to rank for in the SEMrush search bar, pick organic research, and examine the results. Pay special attention to the first four columns on the right to determine how each keyword is performing in SERPs.

  • Position
  • Volume
  • CPC
  • Traffic

This will show you how that keyword is performing in the search engines and whether or not you need to tweak your organic SEO strategy to focus on a different set of keywords.

2 - We can use Semrush to Identify our  Competitors.

For any marketing strategy be it traditional or digital marketing understanding your competitor is the most value part of any marketing campaign.

One of the key aspects of SEO is to identify the competitors in your niche. It doesn’t matter which industry you belong to, you’ll have plenty of brands to compete with and learn from.

There is no better tool than SEMrush to map your competitors. The only tool that comes close is Ahrefs. Even with Ahrefs, the data obtained can sometimes be inaccurate. SEMrush provides you the most accurate data on your competitors so that you can start working on your strategy right away.

To identify your organic competitors, just enter your domain in the SEMrush search box and navigate to the “Main Organic Competitors” column in the overview report.

You’ll find your top 5 organic competitors here. These are the domains you’re competing against in Google for the same keywords. The more keywords you share with your competitor, the higher the competition level will be.

3- Find High-Quality Link Building Opportunities

Backlinking is another important factor that helps website rank better. Semrush has this feature in stock for use who want to dig deeper. Not that hard.

This feature allows you to get a deeper understanding of your competitors’ link profile and highlights new sources you can tap into to build new backlinks and referral traffic.

Once you’ve reviewed your competition’s link profile, use these link building techniques to build new backlinks for your site.

Backlink analysis on SEMrush reveals the following data:

  • Total number of backlinks
  • Follow/nofollow backlinks
  • Referring domains
  • TLD (Top level distribution) distribution
  • TLD Authority (.com, .net, .edu, .gov, etc.)
  • Referring domains by country
