Download a home directory backup on cPanel

Although we offer daily backups via JetBackups for your cPanel account we always recommend taking regular backups of your website yourself. This is added security if, for whatever reason, there is a problem with JetBackup.

The easiest way to do this is from your cPanel account using the Backup option. Follow these steps to download a home directory backup of your cPanel account.

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Select the Backup plugin option under the Files section at the top of cPanel.
  3. Here you will find 2 options, one on the right and one on the left. You need to find and click on the Home Directory button under the Partial Directory Backups section on the left.
  4. Your backup download will automatically start and save to your device.

If your website uses a database, you can also download the database in the same place. This can be found just under the home directory backup option. We recommend downloading any and all databases which are part of your cPanel account, especially if you have multiple websites under the same account.
